1. Functioning of the Health Department 

• The functioning of the health department mainly focuses on the issues and zones related to the health and hygiene of Surat. • The department also ensures the proper functioning and cleanliness of the drainage system and keeps the choked gully traps and sewer traps in check.

• The body also handles the License permit.

• Removal and keeping in check, the nuisance created by stray animals and the unhygienic disease of malaria. 

2. Assessment and Recovery Department

This particular department deals with assessment of properties and functions related including recovery of property tax, education tax, etc. This department also deals with gauging and rental recoveries linked to various corporations and organizations. Dealing with registration of shops and firms inlcusive of short businesses and related sized organizations including court complaints with respect to the breach of law also comes under this department. 

3. Engineering Department

As the head suggests, the engineering department is held responsible for dealing with issues related to the construction and maintenance of Surat.

• Raising public funds and utilization of the same on building and repairing footpaths, society roads, etc. 
• Building roads and widening them upto 80 feet.

7. Both the parties along with a gazetted officer must be present on the said day.
