Highlighting the importance of the project, N. Chandrasekaran stated proudly that the plant had already employed 1,000 people from Assam. Milestones in India Semiconductor Mission

Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw underlined the importance of the plant’s role in the broader mission and revealed that the facility would manufacture chips for diverse applications such as vehicles and communication infrastructure.
Moreover, the plant will work hand in hand with nine educational institutes, including reputable NITs and universities in the Northeast, to provide targeted training for the semiconductor sector. With a commitment to fostering skill development among the country’s youth, the project aims to create 85,000 highly skilled professionals in this field.
Diverse Geographic Expansion for Tata Electronics
In addition to the Assam plant, Tata Electronics has planned to establish India’s first wafer fabrication unit in Dholera, Gujarat, with a remarkable investment of Rs 910 billion. This state-of-the-art facility will be capable of producing 50,000 wafers per month, with the first chip expected to be completed by December 2026.
