Ganesh Chaturthi is just around the corner, and the excitement of Lord Ganesh’s devotees sees no bound. The festival preparations are already in full swing with artists hand-painting the statues of the elephant deity, temples being lavishly decorated, streets and houses illuminated with lights and people singing praises to the Lord – Ganpati Bappa Morya!
Every year numerous tourists and devotees travel to the coastal region to celebrate the 10-day festival of Ganesh Utsav 2022. From August 27 to September 11, the Government of Maharashtra suspended all road toll charges. The concession will be granted at toll booths on the Mumbai-Bengaluru, Mumbai-Goa, and other highways before the 10-day Ganpati festival starts on August 31. The decision was made after Chief Minister Eknath Shinde recently presided over a meeting and gave the relevant authorities instructions to grant the exemption of toll-tax exemption and other conveniences during Ganesh Chaturthi 2022.

Toll Tax Discount Details
Travelling through isolated hilly or coastal communities scattered throughout the Konkan regions that connect to the city via private vehicles, such as automobiles, SUVs, sedans, minibuses, and private or public transportation buses, has always been a cause of worry. The multiple road toll taxes on return trips were falling costly to the citizens travelling for the 10-day festival, Ganesh Chaturthi.
Tens of thousands of people from Mumbai and other major cities travel to Konkan districts, such as Thane, Palghar, and Ratnagiri, during Ganesh Utsav each year to participate in the largest annual festival in the state. Thus, the vehicles must display a sticker that reads “Ganeshotsav 2022, Konkan Darshan,” along with the vehicle and owner’s full name, as required by the Transport Department, to qualify for the discount.
Mumbai taxi drivers who frequently travel along the Konkan road have voiced their displeasure over the high toll fees that have reduced their ability to save. Depending on the route chosen by the devotees, the concession for Ganesh Utsav 2022 will lower travel costs by up to 20–25% for a two-way trip.
