Float House IV, Willamete River, Oregon
This marvellous modern home floats on the Willamete River in Oregon. It was designed by Integrate Architecture & Planning together with Marc Even of Even Construction. The home is mostly made up of windows to capture the views of waves and rolling water. As privacy could be a concern in such homes the architects have added a peekaboo fencing and glass blocks keeping in mind strategic landscaping.
Portage Bay, Seattle
The floating home in Portage Bay Seattle is spacious and stands out amongst its neighbouring homes. It was designed by Prentiss, Balance and Wickline together. The exterior staircase that leads to the roof deck and a tiny covered patio make it a fascinating property. Walnut floors and a well-appointed kitchen lend the property the right balance of luxury and comfort with enjoyment in every inch of the house.
Powell Lake, British Columbia
Located on Powell Lake in coastal British Columbia, this floating house has a simple and strong structure. The support structure is traditionally designed with giant logs and steel cables. Tightened with winches and hydraulic jacks with railroad spikes, it is the most complicated element of this house. Apart from the house, it also includes a boat, a dock, a shed and a vegetable garden.
Lusatian Lake District, Germany
This lakeside home on the Lusatian Lake in Elsterheide, Germany has a unique design wherein it resembles the curve of a boat’s sail on one side. The exquisite sleek structure is framed in wood and aluminium that renders its strong enough and suitable for all types of weather. The structure has a sundeck on the top that can be accessed via exterior stairs. Full-length windows and white interiors give it a spacious feel.
Willamette River, Oregon
The Fennell House on Willamette River is a fine example of out-of-the-box architecture. This floating house has an unorthodox roof structure made up of curved interior beams. This special design creates a rippled visual effect in the water. It is designed by Robert Harvey Oshatz. The home draws inspiration from the nature and thus is full of natural hues and textures.
