Mamnoor Airport in Warangal Set for a Transformational Milestone
The Mamnoor airport in Warangal is on the brink of a significant development that will see it become a key player in the global aviation network. With plans in place to accommodate international aircraft, the airport is expected to attract major airlines such as Air India, Akasa Air, IndiGo, and SpiceJet.
Upgrades to Enhance Capabilities and Standards
Critical upgrades are underway at the Mamnoor airport, which include the construction of a new runway, installation of a signal tower, and implementation of top-notch security systems. All infrastructure developments are aligning with the stringent regulations set by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) under the Aircraft Act. When the upgrades are complete, the Mamnoor airport will be able to handle international aircraft like Airbus A320 and Boeing B737.
Initially, the focus will primarily be on domestic routes with aircraft that have a passenger capacity of 100. Travellers can conveniently fly between various cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Tirupati, Bengaluru, and Vijayawada. With time, the airport will upgrade its facilities to accommodate larger wide-body aircraft for both passenger and cargo services.
Compliance with International Aviation Standards
To ensure Mamnoor airport adheres to global aviation standards, a detailed master plan has been prepared. This plan encompasses all necessary measures for A320 operations under instrument flight rules, including state-of-the-art runway lighting, approach lighting, communication facilities, and navigation equipment. These upgrades strive to make the airport truly world-class.
Support from Concession Agreement
No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the redevelopment of Mamnoor airport was granted under a concession agreement between Hyderabad International Airport Limited and the Ministry of Civil Aviation. As per the agreement, no airport within a 150 km radius of Hyderabad International Airport can be established or upgraded until its 25th anniversary. This ensures that Mamnoor has the opportunity to expand gradually and become a thriving domestic and international aviation hub.
Boosting Connectivity and Economic Growth
The revamp of Mamnoor airport holds great promise for Warangal as it aims to enhance connectivity and foster economic growth in the region. The airport’s strategic location, just around 150 km from Warangal, positions it as a gateway to integrate the area with the global aviation landscape. With seamless access to both domestic and international markets, Mamnoor airport is set to contribute significantly to the development of the region.
With these transformative milestones, Mamnoor airport is charting its path towards becoming a vital aviation hub that will benefit both travellers and the economy. The upgrades and enhancements will unlock opportunities for growth and open doors to connectivity that were previously unexplored in Warangal and beyond.
