The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UPRERA) is set to introduce a comprehensive training and certification program for real estate agents across the state. The move aims to promote transparency, accountability, and enhance the credibility of agents in the sector. The training and certification will be made mandatory for all new agents seeking RERA registration, ensuring that they adhere to the prescribed guidelines. Bringing Uniformity in Real Estate Practices To foster better understanding and compliance with the provisions of the RERA Act and UPRERA rules, the authority will impart specialized training through the certification program. The agents will be educated on the structure and functioning of the regulatory authority, as well as sensitized to the interests and concerns of homebuyers. By ensuring uniformity in real estate practices, this initiative aims to facilitate smoother transactions for both buyers and promoters. Commencement of Certification Program and Details The first set of certification courses is scheduled to begin in April 2024, with Lucknow being the first city to host the training sessions. Real estate agents who are registered on the UPRERA portal and located in Lucknow are advised to enroll in the program at the earliest. The authority will provide more information on the training schedule and modules after confirming the enrollment process. A Comprehensive Curriculum and Examination Over a span of three days, the UPRERA training program will cover various aspects of the RERA Act 2016, including its provisions, compliance, UPRERA Rules 2016, and regulations issued by the authority. Agents will also be educated about the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders and relevant laws that govern real estate transactions. At the end of the training, agents will undergo an examination, and upon successful evaluation, they will be awarded certificates. The Significance of Training and Certification Sanjay Bhoosreddy, Chairman of UPRERA, emphasized the importance of training and certification for real estate agents. Presently, agents in the sector operate without any formal training, which can negatively impact the sector as a whole. By equipping agents with the necessary skills and knowledge, UPRERA aims to instill transparency and credibility in the real estate sector. New agents seeking RERA registration will now be required to obtain a certificate following the completion of the training program. Mandatory Certification for Existing Agents The training and certification initiative also extends to agents who are already registered under RERA. These agents will be given one year to complete the training and obtain their certification. Failure to do so within the stipulated time frame will result in the cancellation of their RERA registration. It is essential that existing agents make use of this opportunity to enhance their skills and professionalism, thereby contributing to a more vibrant and robust real estate industry in Uttar Pradesh. Through this groundbreaking approach, UPRERA is taking a significant step towards streamlining the real estate sector and ensuring the best interests of both homebuyers and promoters are safeguarded.
