Weir Views is one of the newest and upcoming suburbs in Melbourne and is poised to become a major hub for affordable housing in the future. Buyers can purchase homes here currently at relatively lower prices with some units selling for as low as $155, 000. EIG Developments has already confirmed that more than 57 hectares of unutilized land in Weir Views will soon be developed into a community of close to 600 affordable housing lots along with a shopping precinct estimated to cost around $45 million. There will also be sports grounds on offer at the project. The proposal also contains plans to develop a government school on the project site which was previously a part of Melton South.
Weir Views is one of the 11 new suburbs that have been established in recent times across a fast-growing corridor between Caroline Springs and Melton. This Opalia project will be valued at approximately $200 million and will be a major anchor development for the entire stretch. There will be a shopping zone covering 5 hectares and two supermarkets along with a Chemist Warehouse and other specialty stores in tandem with 581 lots which are sized between 231-670 sq. m and priced between $155, 000-420, 000 on an average.
The project is expected to be finished by end 2019 as per reports. Another 9 hectares will be returned to the City of Melton for developing recreational areas where citizens can indulge in sports facilities right outside their homes. The secondary and primary schools in Melton are located in close proximity to Weir Views and a government school may also be built soon as mentioned previously. The other newly established suburbs include Grangefields, Thornhill Park, Aintree, Harkness, Strathtulloh, Cobblebank, Fieldstone, Bonnie Brook, Deanside and Fraser Rise. The Melton Council Area is home to 8 out of the 20 cheapest housing markets in Melbourne as per studies. In the new Fraser Rise suburb, Growland will be building innumerable affordable housing units across 26 hectares soon. Several other mega developments are expected in the entire Melton zone over the next few years.
