The MoCA (Ministry of Civil Aviation) has the blueprint of developing airport capacity under the NextGen Airports for Bharat or NABH blueprint. There are three major parts of this plan, namely equitable and fair acquisition of land, master plan for regional and airport development in the long-term and balanced economies of scale for all major stakeholders. The Noida International Greenfield Airport is located strategically at Jewar. The new airport is located approximately 72 kilometres away from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. Noida is located around 40 kilometres away from the Noida International Greenfield Airport and Ghaziabad and Faridabad are located approximately the same distance away. Greater Noida is located 28 kilometres away while Gurgaon and Agra are located 65 and 130 kilometres away respectively. The new airport is well linked to the Yamuna Expressway and will cater to tourists who are looking to access Mathura, Agra and Vrindavan. The clearance for the site was approved on the 6th of July, 2017 by the MoCA. The Uttar Pradesh Government has already entrusted the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) as the agency for implementation last October. YEIDA also got an NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the Defence Ministry on the 11th of January, 2018. For expedition of the new airport project, there is a PMIC     (Project Monitoring and Implementation Committee) that has been established in March, 2018. YEIDA has already zeroed in on 5, 000 hectares for this project and 240 hectares is the property of the State Government while private owners have the rest of the land. The first acquisition phase covers 1, 327 hectares for building Terminal structures and Runways and this will be expedited in June, 2018. The new airport should spark real estate growth in surrounding areas and will also boost the economic progress of the entire region. An aero city that is designed well can actually spur economic growth of the zone. The airport plan will be encompassing the urban zone around the new airport. Inter and intra-city connectivity will be assured for the new airport including access to the current airport in New Delhi, railway networks, auto rickshaws, buses, metro networks and private vehicle access. A PPP (Public Private Partnership) model has been zeroed in on for developing the new airport. A discussion was conducted in a detailed manner as to the financial viability of the new airport and the models for awarding concessions under the PPP scheme. The land acquisition has already started courtesy YEIDA and the State Government and the foundation stone for the 1st Phase should be laid by October 2018. This should boost real estate markets in the entire region according to experts.
