Boisar is the largest industrial suburb in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region in the state of Maharashtra. It was originally a part of Thane district before becoming a part of the Palghar district. It is approximately 111 kilometres (69 miles) away from the state capital Mumbai, and is 98 km (61 mi) from Daman. It is located in the district of Palghar. Boisar is governed by the Palghar Municipal Council (PMC). It is home to the largest Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). Boisar hosts India's first nuclear power station, Tarapur Atomic Power Station (TAPS). Boisar is a popular weekend spot for tourists and locals due to nearby beaches, forts and lakes. The place has seen rapid development. Yashwant Shrusti, and Harmony Residency like areas are well-developed compared to other places because of the high-cost of real estate. There are some beautiful parks and resorts in the area. Boisar is not only an industrial, chemical hub but also an IT sector is also developing in Boisar. Boisar was initially inhabited by the Kolis and Konkanis who were fishermen and used to live near the Arabian Sea coast. The Kolis are traditional fishermen who speak different dialects of Marathi.
Boisar is a major residential area that is a part of the region including Mira Road and beyond. There are several affordable and mid range projects present in this area. There are several mid stage projects in the area and 1 and 2 BHK housing units are predominantly available here. The locality has moderate connectivity with the rest of the city, with the Boisar Railway Station and BEST buses catering to the area. The Mumbai International Airport is around 100 Km away. At present there is no proposal of metro connectivity to this area, but Boisar falls on the ambitious Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project and may have a station on it.

Demand for property in Boisar has always been quite high due to its good connectivity to Virar (45 kilometres) and strategic location along the Western Railway line of the Mumbai Suburban network. The area is part of the Palghar district and is the gateway to the biggest MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) in Maharashtra, i.e. the Tarapur MIDC.This makes it a popular residential destination for several home buyers. Boisar is primarily an industrial suburb in Palghar district of Maharashtra about 50 km ahead of Virar. Boisar is also connected to the local Western railway line of Mumbai and areas like Churchgate, Borivali, Andheri and Bandra.
