Chorao Goa this is an island along the Mandovi River near Ilhas, Goa. Also known as Choddnnem or Chodan, this is the largest among other 17 islands of Goa. It is located at a distance of 5 kilometres away from the state capital, the city of Panaji and 10 kilometres away from the city of Mapusa. Till date, this area has retained the Portuguese essence distinctly in its churches, graveyards and buildings. It attracts a lot of tourists, thanks to its amazing flora and fauna. It is also home to the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary. The largest bird sanctuary in Goa, it is located in the western part of the island, spread over an area of 178 hectares.
