EVC stands for Electronic Verification Code. It is a 10-digit alphanumeric code used by the Income Tax Department of India to verify the identity of those filing Income Tax Returns (ITRs). The EVC can be generated through the IT Department's e-filing portal and received via your registered mobile number or email. This verification method ensures that the ITR submission is secure and that the person filing the return is the same as the person registered with the department, thereby preventing fraud.
