Asias largest housing colony with 15,600 dwelling units spread across 112 blocks constructed under the State governments flagship Dignity Housing Scheme for the poor will soon be inaugurated by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
The housing complex named ‘KCR Nagar’ has been constructed in a sprawling area of 145.50 acres at a cost of Rs.1432.50 crore. It comprises 15,660 double bedroom flats constructed in 117 blocks. Each flat comprises a hall, two bedrooms with attached toilets, a kitchen and a utility area within a plinth area of 560 sq ft.
Each housing unit has a built-up area of 560 square feet and a carpet area of 398 square feet. Housing units cost Rs 8.65 lakh, including infrastructure costs of Rs 75,000. A subsidy of Rs 1.50 lakh is provided by the Government of India for each unit.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) project also includes schools, hospitals, parks, play grounds, open-air gyms, indoor sports complexes, amphitheaters, and open-air auditoriums.
