Malad is home to well-known commercial spaces and malls like Inorbit Mall and Infinity Mall. Beaches like Marv Beach and Aksa Beach are located in Malad. The Malad Station is on the West Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway. It is neighboured by the Kandivali Station to the north and the Goregaon Station to the south. The Western Line track divides Malad into Malad West and Malad East.
Malad had different constituents in the past. In the 16th century, Malad consisted of villages, including Orlem, Kharodi, Rathodi, Malwani, Marve, Aksa, Madh, and Chincholi. One of the oldest temples in Malad is the Lord Hanuman Temple of Marvani Village, which is over a century old and was built by the Purav family of Malvani Village in the early 19th century. Harba Devi Temple, a 12th century temple, is located on Madh Island. According to the temple's historical evidence and documents, it was also attacked during World War II.
In front of Aksa Beach lies the Malad Fort, also known as Madh Fort. The fort overlooks the Arabian Sea and was conquered by the Maratha Empire in 1739. INS Hamla is a logistics and training facility for the Indian Navy which is also located in Malad.
Malad houses approximately 9.46 lakh people. An additional 1 lakh people visit the location daily. The area majorly has a rich and upper-middle-class Marathi population. Malad comes under the P-North ward of Mumbai. According to the 2011 Census, it is the city's most populous ward. Hospitals such as Thunga Hospital, Lifeline Hospital, Zenith Hospital, Surana Hospital, The Children's Hospital, and Vivanta Multi Speciality Hospital are situated in Malad West.
Malad West is well connected to major areas of West and South Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Mira Bhayander via the Western and Harbour Lines of the local train, SV Road, New Link Road, and the Western Express Highway. It also has easy access to the Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road and Aarey Road. Malad (Western Line) and Goregaon (Western and Harbor Line) are the closest train stations to Malad West. Metro Line 2A (DN Nagar-Dahisar West), which is under construction, is supposed to facilitate commuting to Mumbai's airports and beyond. Additionally, Mumbai International Airport is 12-17 km away from Malad West.
The location is first class and close to all amenities. The locality is within walking distance of Inorbit Mall, schools, hospitals, shopping malls, and markets. It is suitable for the hospitality industry and cloud kitchen business. The area is also a great location for jewellers, clothing, and other branded showrooms. It is a very beautiful and beautiful location with an impressive green cover. It is also home to Mindspace IT Hub.
The only thing not great about the location is the crowd and slums. Due to overcrowding, autos and other public transport are not easily available. Further, the area from Malad West to Andheri West via New Link gets waterlogged very frequently.
