BUNGALOW

A bungalow is basically a style of house that is rather popular. These houses, also known as cottages essentially come with a single story, often times with a second partial story. All of this is topped off with a sloped roof which is the signature style of a bungalow. These types of houses are small both in terms of square footage and size. They can easily be differentiated from more conventional properties by the balconies and dormer windows. These types of properties are much easier to maintain, cost-effective and more convenient to renovate. However, on the contrary to generic properties, bungalows tend to have fewer and smaller rooms and are more vulnerable to break-ins given how low to the ground they sit.

Definition

One quick search on the internet will present you with a number of definitions when it comes to bungalows. However, there are only two that sum up the essential features of a bungalow and offers a better understanding of it. Further mentioned here are some of the main definitions you should know off.

i. A bungalow is essentially a cottage, cabin or one-story house. These are a bit smaller than the conventional models you can see in the industry. However, that does not mean you will not find big bungalows as well. These were primarily designed to offer reasonable and modern housing from the working class.

ii. While the most common types of bungalows include one-story houses, they also come with an additional half-story, along with a sloped roof. The sloped roof is the signature style of a bungalow. However, adding levels to a bungalow is a new concept and not how a bungalow should be. Common features like a balcony and dormer window are what explain a bungalow the best.
