Let us talk about what is referred to by the term ingress.
In simple terms, Ingress can be defined as the right to enter any building or property. An example of ingress may include a driveway with an entry point from the main road for you to enter.
Similarly, the opposite of ingress is egress. Egress is nothing but the exit point of a property.
As per the above example, it is clear that a point of entry in a building is known as ingress. Ingress is one of the most concise ways of denoting a place from which individuals can enter. This makes the usage of specifics like doors and others, completely redundant. The primary reason for this is- ingress does not refer to all doors. So these are basic access points to any kind of property which are inaccessible without going through somebody else property.
Ingress can further be elaborated as nothing but the sheer right to enter somebody property. Quite the opposite of this word is egress, which is again, the right to exit. What happens with entering and leaving properties is- it involves direct access to the public roads or highways.
If we talk about properties with even one line touching the main road, then one can access the road without hovering over somebody else property. But often appearances can be deceptive concerning ingress and egress.
Here an example: Let us say that a local town or any city authorities have put restrictions on the right of property owners to suddenly incorporate driveways. Owing to such reasons, a person might as well be prohibited from going inside or walking outside to the streets from the property. So, till the time some other means of access are provided, that piece of land will be landlocked.
You cannot expect to gain ingress rights, just because your building or property is adjacent to some roads. One example of this is that there might be a house with a garage that faces the alley and the actual exit point faces the main road. This might take place due to the planning of the city. There are multiple cities with the unavailability of multiple driveways. However, the driveway which enters or opens up to the alley provides for a single ingress or entry point and egress or exit point. it should be noted that there always a tendency of the Government to put restrictions on the number of ingresses onto roads, using various means.
