Vijayawada West is a major Assembly constituency in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and is one amongst the 16 constituencies for the Krishna District in the State. It is also one of the 7 assembly constituencies for the Lok Sabha. The area encompasses the Vijayawada urban Mandal, Vijayawada urban zone and the Wards 1-13, 15-19 and 75 and 76 in Vijayawada. Vijayawada is located on the River Krishna’s banks and is the commercial hub of Andhra Pradesh. The city has already been accredited as a Global City of the Future as per the McKinsey Quarterly and is home to several attractions like the Krishnaveni Mandapam or the River Museum, Prakasham Barrage, Gandhi Hill which is the first memorial to the Father of the Nation in India, Kanaka Durga Temple and the Bhavani Island. Vijayawada also manifests the Solar/Green Cities scheme formulated by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy. The city also promotes usage of e-rickshaws and CNG auto rickshaws for sustainable eco-friendly transportation.
