Allahabad East is one of the 403 assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh and it is mainly comprised of ward numbers 14, 24, 25, 26, 37, 44, 53, 56 and 59 The region has seen some good infrastructural improvements in the recent years and its prospects are set to improve further. Allahabad has always been known for its emphasis on art, architecture and learning right from the Vedic period and over the ages the region has had great rulers who have added to their glory. It also happens to be one of the most important seats of political power not just in Uttar Pradesh but also in North India today and the elections are covered by the media with added enthusiasm. The city is home to a number of important monuments and educational institutions. The Victoria, Allahabad Museum, Jawahar Planeterium and Anand Bhavan are located here. The city always hosts many folk festivals and is also the site of the Prayag Sangeet Samiti. The city is especially known for its contribution to Hindi literature and many eminent poets and authors come from this city, including Harivansh Rai Bacchan. The city is also the site of Kumbh Mela that happens along the Tribeni Sangam and thousands of pilgrims come here on the occasion.
